Umno's Wan Rosdy dismisses claims of BN MPs gathering for Anwar support as slander

KUANTAN: Allegations of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi calling all Barisan Nasional (BN) members of parliament to gather in Cameron Highlands in a move to show their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is not true, Umno vice president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail confirmed.

Wan Rosdy said it is mere slander and an unfounded accusation made by blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin simply to sensationalise the 'Dubai Move' claims.

He said the allegation was propagated by the veteran blogger, who made baseless claims almost daily, while living outside the country, presumably in fear of legal actions being taken for his claims.

"I urge Malaysians not to be taken by his lies or to believe his cheap slanders.

"Umno will continue to uphold the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who suggested the formation of this unity government," he said in a statement today.

Wan Rosdy, who also serves as the Pahang Menteri Besar stressed that Ahmad Zahid's visit to Cameron Highlands was to visit those affected by a landslide in Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Ruil last October.

"He was there as the Deputy Prime Minister and Umno president for a post-disaster visit", he said, adding that certain important decisions benefiting the people were made during this visit.

Wan Rosdy said Zahid also went on a tour to meet the party's grassroots and Cameron Highlands Umno Division leaders, state leaders as well as division leaders after his visit to the landslide-stricken village.
