'Development projects that benefit the people will be continued'

TANJUNG MALIM: Development projects especially the construction of Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) cluster factories and a technical training and vocational institute proposed by the previous government will be continued as they can promote economic growth.

The building of Proton cluster factories will open up more job opportunities for youths and cut down migration to big cities while a technical training and vocational institute can help churn out skilled workers for the factories.

Tanjung Malim member of parliament, Chang Lih Kang, said he would help ensure the projects would wield significant benefits for the people.

“The moving of the Proton factory from Shah Alam, Selangor to here is expected to take five years. The construction is now ongoing and it is hoped that it will be ready within the targeted time.

"Besides the automotive industry, two other areas identified to boost economic growth are eco-tourism and agriculture,” he said when met at the Tanjung Malim PKR branch elections polling centre here today.

Chang, who is also state PKR vice president, said investors, especially those from abroad, would be encouraged to invest in a specific area to promote economic growth.

As such, he hoped the people in his constituency would continue to support the steps taken to develop the district.

Chang won uncontested for the post of PKR Tanjung Malim deputy branch head.
