KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee indefinitely postponed its proceedings on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) on the suggestion of the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee said he received the suggestion to adjourn the proceedings “sine die“ (indefinitely) in a letter on Oct 25.
“Following a meeting with PAC members, some of us met with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof to notify him about this,” he said in a statement to the press here today.
Kiandee said PAC would also be meeting with the Attorney-General Tommy Thomas as soon as possible to discuss the postponement.
PAC was supposed to resume its inquiry on 1MDB yesterday by calling Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.
However the committee issued a statement that the inquiry had been called off, without stating the reason.
Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to be recalled for questioning on 1MDB soon.
