2019 Budget: GDP to grow by 4.9pc in 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has projected a 4.9 per cent growth in Malaysia's Growth Domestic Product (GDP) next year, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Lim, who is tabling the 2019 Budget in Parliament, said the Malaysian economy will continue to improve despite the global economic uncertainty.

"As at Oct 15, 2018, international reserves have reached US$102.8 billion, or RM426 billion... Inflation has remained low at 1.2 per cent from January to September 2018," he said.

The ringgit, he said, rose 12.3 per cent against the Indian Rupee, 8.1 per cent against the Indonesian Rupiah, 3 per cent against the Philippine Peso, 3.2 per cent against China's Renminbi and 0.6 percent against the Singaporean Dollar.
