Motorists take advantage of 50 per cent summons discount

JEMPOL: Race goers at the Petronas Cup Prix race at Dataran Seri Jempol here on Saturday and Sunday, took advantage of the 50 per cent discount offered by the Jempol District Police Headquarters (IPD) over the outstanding summons.

The move saw a total of RM406,690 summons in arrears being collected.

District Police Chief, Superintendent Muhd ​​Nur Hishamddin Hashim, said 3,711 summonses were resolved in the two day period.

He said the offence exceeding the speed limit was the offence which saw the most resolution, followed by parking-related summons, expired road tax and driving licence and no insurance coverage as well as failure to use helmets.

"We provided two counters for checks, four counters for amendments and two counters for payment over the two days which also received cooperation of the Bukit AmanTraffic Investiga-tion and Enforcement department (JSPT), " he said.

However, he said, there was no deduction for summons involving accidents, unpaid summons, summons which had been chnaged to warrant of arrest, summons which are in trial and summons issued in conjunction with Op Selamat.

He said the public still had the opportunity to get a discount on their summons on Nov 26 in conjunction with the Kuala Pilah Police District's Client's Day.
