Police slash waiting time for half-price summons at Madani celebration

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have significantly reduced the waiting time to pay summons at half price, during the Madani government's One-Year Anniversary Programme in Bukit Jalil National Stadium today.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said that they had overcome the initial hiccups, after receiving complaints of waiting over five hours to settle their summonses at the counters.

The police have since come up with a QR code vouchers method.

"Our officers are around the tent area and all the public would need to do is to approach them and ask for vouchers.

"They scan the vouchers and can straight away pay online via the MyBayar Saman application at discounted price.

"They can pay up to 10 summonses per voucher," he said when met here today.

The police are offering up to 20,000 vouchers on the last day of the programme.

Sarifudin said that the voucher payment was only valid to the person named in the summons.

If the visitors want to pay for others such as spouses, children, or relatives, they would have to take a number and wait for their turn to make the payments at the designated counters.

This, he said, would take time.

Hence he suggested those who received the summons to pay using the QR code vouchers which would only take a maximum of 10 minutes.

Over 7,600 summonses were paid on the first day, and 5,600 on the second.

As of noon, more than 1,000 have settled their summonses at the counters, excluding the voucher payments.

The special discount police summons payment period ends today.
