'Mobile Legends' helps keep boy calm before circumcision procedure

JITRA: School holidays are upon us which means it is also the season for Muslim boys to undergo circumcision.

Mohd Huzaini Ahmad, 41, enrolled his seven-year-old son Mohd Hafiz in a mass circumcision event organised by the Al-Ikhlas mosque, here, yesterday.

Talking about his son's nervousness over the procedure, he said he took to entice his son with the 'Mobile Legends' mobile game in order to help alleviate the boy's fear.

Mohd Huzaini said his son wasn't spoilt, but nervousness was normal for kids when it comes to getting circumcised.

"Hafiz was normal at the start, but when other kids started to cry, I had to give him my smartphone for him to play games on it.

"At least the game managed to calm him down and the procedure went on normally," he said when met, here, yesterday.

For Amzar Zhorif Alias, 9, he was excited to be able to undergo the procedure together with his eight-year-old brother Adha Zikrullah Alias.

"My parents did not force us to have early circumcision, but we picked this holiday season to do it," he said, adding that he was not too afraid of the pain.

Meanwhile, Al-Ikhlas mosque imam Mohamad Asri Othman said the programme saw the participation of 51 children between the ages of five and 10.

"The charge for this mass circumcision is RM100 per child living within this area, meanwhile there is no charge for poor, orphaned children.

"To alleviate their fear, we also invited the Fire and Rescue Department to shower the kids before the procedure is carried out by medical officers from the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital," he said.
