PUTRAJAYA: The government will make a special payment of RM500 to selected civil servants grouped under the professional and management category as well as RM250 to government retirees on December 18.
Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam director general Datuk Seri Borhan Dolah said under Budget 2019, the government will distribute the special payment to the government officers to recognize their contribution and sacrifices to the people.
In a statement today, Borhan said government servants eligible for the RM500 payment must still be in service up to Dec 18 this year and have been in service for 30 consecutive days including all paid leave, off days, weekends and public holidays between January 1 2018 and Dec 2018.
He added those eligible include permanent, temporary and contract staff as well as staff with half pay and staff without pay between January 2018 and December 18 2018.
He added the payment will also be made to interim teachers and special grade A and B officers who are qualified to have car drivers assigned to them but did not receive any.
"Those not eligible include officers in that category who were slapped with disciplinary action, those who resigned as well as those who were terminated.
Civil servants on loan to other agencies or private companies and international bodies are also not eligible.
Meanwhile, those deferred of the payment include suspended civil servants as well as those who are under investigation by the disciplinary committee and found not guilty later.
