KANGAR: The Perlis government has agreed to grant a RM500 Aidilfitri special cash aid to state civil servants.
Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the cash aid would benefit some 1,200 state civil servants.
"The special cash aid will involve state civil servants Grade 56 and below, including contractual staff and the payment will be made by next Wednesday.
"State civil service retirees will be getting a RM250 special cash aid," he said in a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting at the State Legislative Assembly Complex today.
Shukri said the special cash aid incurred a financial implication of RM650,000 to the state government.
"We hope this special cash aid will help to spur businesses at Ramadan Bazaar, including those selling Aidilfitri delicacies.
"Hopefully, the state civil servants will use the cash aid wisely to spread the Aidilfitri cheers to all quarters," he said.
Mohd Shukri said the Aidilfitri special cash aid for state civil servants was the first for Perikatan Nasional state government since forming the new state government after the 15th General Election held in 2022.
