NSTP wins big at Pahang media awards

KUANTAN: The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) emerged the biggest winner at the Pahang-DRB Hicom Media Awards 2018 tonight, bagging 11 awards in various categories.

Former New Straits Times (NST) staff correspondent Hidir Reduan Abdul Rashid, who is now transfered to NST headquarters in Kuala Lumpur won first place in the English News category, while reporter T.N. Alagesh took second and third spot.

NST’s sister publications, Harian Metro (HM) and Berita Harian (BH) also won several awards.

HM reporter Raja Norain Hidayah Raja Abdul Aziz bagged first place in the Bahasa Melayu News feature category and third spot in Bahasa Melayu News category, while Mohamad Azim Fitri Abdul Aziz bagged second spot in the Bahasa Melayu News category.

NSTP sports stringer Asrol Awang bagged first spot in the Sports news category while former stringer Ainal Marhaton Abd Ghani secured third spot in the same category.

NSTP photographer Muhammad Asyraf Sawal won first prize in the Sports category and second spot in the feature photo category while Farizul Hafiz Awang came in third for feature photography category.

Meanwhile, TV3’s Ahmad Fazli Ahmad won first prize in the television report category.

Former NSTP stringer Shahrul Nizam Mohamad who passed away due to illness on Sept 17 was presented with the “Jasa Mu Dikenang” award. His wife collected the award.

The Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, presented the prizes.

Also present were DRB-Hicom Bhd group managing director Datuk Seri Syed Faisal Albar Syed Ali Rizal Albar, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Pahang Press Club president Datuk Nik Naizi Husin.

The main winner of each category takes home RM2,000 while the second and third place winner earns RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively.

A total of 200 entries were submitted for the awards.
