Mujahid to 'expose' Tabung Haji financial issues in Parliament on Monday

PARIT BUNTAR: Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof is expected to “expose” the issues surrounding Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) in Parliament on Monday.

The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said, among the things was TH’s 2017 financial state which had many discrepancies, including differences in profits reported by the agency.

“Wait till Monday around 10am. We will expose what we have found to have happened in the management of TH. (What has happened) is sad.

“I can’t explain what I mean by ‘sad’. It is our responsibility to Parliament and to the public, so we will explain what we have found.

“I expect that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will meet and call whomever necessary (for investigations), if they find that this is an issue,” he told reporters after opening a Back-to-School programme at Mydin Mall, here.

Some 200 students from poor families were given RM100 vouchers to spend on items they need for school.

Asked whether the issue with TH had anything to do with the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue, Mujahid stressed everything would be left to the authorities to investigate.

“I cannot say for sure if it has anything to do with 1MDB, but we have not really gotten to the bottom of things yet. Let police investigate... I am confident police will investigate it thoroughly and we will then find out who has abused the agency’s funds.”

Mujahid, who is Parit Buntar member of parliament, said he regretted that certain parties had linked the TH issue with revenge.

On Nov 30, TH lodged two police reports against its former chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, former chief executive officer, Tan Sri Ismee Ismail and Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah as well as four other senior management personnel alleging misconduct on their part pertaining to TH’s financial affairs.
