Jengka Wonderland offers various attractions for children and adults

MARAN: Jengka Wonderland, the first water park to be set up within a Felda region, officially opened its doors on Dec 1.

Although it may not be as popular as other premier water parks in the country, Jengka Wonderland in Bandar Pusat Jengka near here, offers a good time for both children and adults especially Felda settlers and those from neighbouring districts.

Nestled among lush greenery, the 1.2ha water park, which adopts a Middle Eastern architectural concept, offers various attractions ranging from adults and children’s water slides, a slide tower with five slides, pirate-ship, a man-made wave beach and sprouting water cannons.

The water park operator Mohd Rafi Ekramuddin said more than 3,000 people had visited the park since it opened on Dec 1, and the ongoing school holidays offered an extra reason for visitors to enjoy splashing around at the aqua park.

Rafi, who is also the brain behind Kubang Gajah Waterpark at Temerloh, said the park’s concept was to promote an ideal leisure and picnic spot for an entire family.

“Besides buying the food and beverages sold at our cafe, visitors to the water park are also allowed to bring in their own meals. We aim to create a friendly atmosphere and ensure visitors are comfortable when they come to the park.

“Since images about the attractions in the park went viral on the social media several months ago, many people have been inquiring about the park and the decision to open during the school holidays is timely. The park can accommodate up to 5,000 visitors at a time,” he said when contacted.

He said Jengka Wonderland had adopted the Middle East and Rome building concept with vibrant colours and the park has also included elements of fantasy to suit its name.

Rafi said he was confident that the water park would receive strong response despite its location in a small town as his idea was well-received during a survey conducted among Felda settlers in the vicinity.

“Before starting the land clearing works, I conducted a survey and received positive feedback. Many have visited the water park in Temerloh, and understood the potential of setting up a similar one here.

“Apart from being a recreational site, the residents here realise the water park is going to create a lots jobs and help boost the economy. Now with the latest attraction, Bandar Pusat Jengka is set to reach great heights,” he said, adding 20 workers had been hired to work at the park.

On the future expansion plans, the Felda Jengka 14 second-generation settler said a 40-room hotel will be built in the vicinity next year and was expected to start operations in 2020.

Tickets to the water park are priced between RM12 and RM15.
