Muhammad Adib although stable, is still critical and needs life support

SHAH ALAM: Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, the fireman who was severely beaten up by rioters at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple USJ 25, Subang Jaya last month, although stable, is still critical.

Fire and Rescue Department Director General Datuk Mohammad Hamdan Wahid, said Muhammad Adib, 24, still needs life support to stabilise his internal organs.

"Adib can communicate but nobody is allowed to visit him and I expect to receive the latest updates on Adib' s health status from the specialists in the next two days.

In the meantime, the specialists and doctors treatment need to continue," Mohammad Hamdan told reporters here after a witnessing a memorandum of understanding between the department and Universiti Teknologi MARA.

He added the medical report is important so that the department will be able to gauge Adib's condition before visiting him to investigate further on what really happened during the incident.

"We would like to hear more from him especially now that he is able to gesture with hand signals and write on the white board which indicates that there is a lot more we can learn from him on the incident," said Mohammad Hamdan.

He said for now, Adib is in high spirits supported by his family members as well as his fiance.

In the 27 Nov incident, Muhammad Adib who is attached with the Subang Jaya fire station was beaten up by rioters in front of the temple as they attempted to douse off several burning vehicles.

He was then admitted at the Ramsay Sime Darby Medical Center, Subang Jaya and then transferred to the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.
