Selangor police collect RM7.4 million in summonses during 'discount' period

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police managed to collect RM7.4 million from traffic offenders between Thursday and Saturday during a “50 per cent discount” period.

State Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Azman Shariat said 61,763 summonses were settled during the period.

He said the collection on the final day alone amounted to RM3.1 million, involving 25,158 summonses.

“On the first day, we collected RM1.8 million involving 14,918 summonses. This increased to RM2.5 million from 21,687 summonses on Friday.”

Azman said the programme this time was more ordered and better compared to previous times it was carried out.

The three-day programme was carried out at all police district headquarters in Selangor, with the exception of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, between 9am and 4.30pm.

All summonses were eligible for discounts except for those involving accidents this year, non-compoundable offences, those with arrest warrants out, those currently in litigation, those issued under Op Selamat and those involving lorries.
