Police complete probe on trio who trespassed Selangor MB's residence

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have submitted investigation papers to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor's (DPP) office involving three media practitioners who had allegedly trespassed into the official residence of Selangor Menteri Besar recently.

It was reported that representatives from the media agency Harakah have lodged a report related to the matter earlier today at the Shah Alam district police headquarters.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim confirmed receiving the report.

"We received the report and it is more to deny (the incident).

"We have completed the investigations and the papers have been submitted for further action. We will provide updates later," he said when contacted today.

The trio were detained last week for trespassing the official residence of Selangor Menteri Besar.

The three men, aged between 31 and 35 years old, were journalists for Harakah.

They were probed under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespassing.

After lodging the report earlier today, Harakah chief operating officer Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar denied that they trespassed the MB's official residence.

He said that the three men were there at the invitation of Kampung Sungai Sireh residents who were facing issues with the land acquisition efforts by the government in the development of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

He clarified that the three of them were there representing Gerakan Pertubuhan Ummah (Ummah) who are fighting for the struggle of the Kampung Sungai Sireh residents.

"They actually did not trespass without permission, but were allowed to enter MB's official residence.

"In fact, they had time to attend the meeting with the Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari).

"However, the issue only occurred after the meeting with the Selangor MB was over when they were arrested on the grounds of trespassing the Selangor MB's official residence," he said in a statement posted on the agency's website.
