Studies show that those who have a healthy balance of creativity are often more successful than those who don’t possess the trait.
Creativity is a trait, skill and personality type. It is also an item, product or service that is unlike any other. Some people are born creative whereas others are bred creative. However, more and more people are falling victim to the idea that creativity is not as important as intelligence, bravery and empathy.
In Malaysia, the less popular creative or Arts stream is seen as a dumping ground for those who did not make the cut into the Science stream. This could not be further from the truth.
At the Malaysian Top 10 Young Artists Awards 2018 recently, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh said when she was in her schooling years, many believed that only those in the Science stream would become successful.
This led to many students forcing themselves to study Science even though it was not their area of interest. Today, it is a different scenario as there is much support for the Arts stream as well.
