KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry has cancelled 406 tenders involving various services at schools nationwide, including several matriculation colleges.
The cancellation involves catering services, cleaning works as well as security services.
According to the ministry's website, four notices have been issued on the matter with the first notice involving the cancellation of tender for catering services at boarding schools (BMB), building and compound cleaning services (KBK) and security services (PKK).
The notice dated Aug 8 involves 206 tenders for the three services.
The second notice dated Sept 21 involves the cancellation of 94 tenders for KBK at schools and learning institutions under the Education Ministry for the contract period of Jan 1, 2019 until Dec 31, 2021.
The third notice issued on the same date saw the cancellation of 98 tenders for catering services at schools and learning institutions under the ministry for the contract period of Jan 1, 2019 until Dec 31, 2020.
Meanwhile, the fourth notice dated Oct 5 saw the cancellation of the same services involving eight schools in Kedah, Pahang, Kelantan and Negri Sembilan.
According to a source, among the reason behind the cancellation of these tenders was to improve the scope and specifications of the original tender as well as the implementation of the electronic based tender application under the e-Perolehan system.
The source said that the cancelled tenders would be open for application soon.
