DBKL to produce local food through neighbourhood community project

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is promoting the production of local food through a neighbourhood community project.

Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the community garden project local agenda Kuala Lumpur (LA21KL) 2018 involving local communities, the government, private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) could bring about sustainable development.

“The programme covers activities that involve gardening and will be conducted in the neighbourhood to promote the production of various crops while supporting local economic development.

“The LA21KL method can bring together communities to make sure any project prospers in the capital,” he said in conjunction with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of LA21KL here today.

Nor Hisham said the memorandum signed with 12 partners would intensify implementation of the initiative.

“The partnership members will also participate in the LA21KL Neighborhood Garden awards which will be organised in February.

“The panel line up for the awards consists of professionals and experts in their respective fields,” he said.
