Did Lim Kok Wing sneak into Dr M's house uninvited?

KUALA LUMPUR: This is not an open letter but a direct retort from a daughter of a politician to an industry captain.

Twitter appears to be the medium of choice lately for public figures to hit out at other public figures. While some still opt for veiled criticism in which you have to guess who they are talking about, many today are choosing to be more direct.

Just today, there have been a few tweets courtesy of public figures in the country, offering their apparent dissatisfaction over several matters.

Number one on the list right now is Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir who took to Twitter to admonish founder of Limkokwing University Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.

Earlier this morning, Lim posted on Twitter, "Tun Mahathir is absolutely right in saying that we just need to set our hearts and minds on achieving greater goals to be a great nation." Lim had tagged Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik.

Several hours after he posted the tweet, Marina replied to it asking the philantropist to "stop it".

She went on to claim that Lim had "snuck" into their house during Hari Raya "uninvited" to apologise, presumably to Dr Mahathir.

"Do stop it @limkokwing! Where were you last year? Who was it who told Dad to shut up to 'preserve his legacy'? If Pakatan Harapan (PH) hadn't won, would you have snuck into our house uninvited at Raya to apologise. Just stop it," Marina posted.

Responding to another Twitter user, Marina further claimed that she could not believe her eyes when she saw "him", most likely referring to Lim, "skulking about our kitchen".

Lim has yet to reply to Marina's criticism.

For context, in 2015, Dr Mahathir made a blogpost where he spoke about a friend who had warned him of losing his legacy should he persist in criticising Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was prime minister at the time.

Dr Mahathir did not mention names but described the friend as an educationist.

In the last sentence of the blogpost titled "Legacy", Dr Mahathir used the phrase "ex-friend".

Moving on to another Twitter rant of the day, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in a veiled post, talked about politicking.

"If only some people focused more on growing the economy, and less on politicking..." he posted.

While it is unclear who he was talking about, Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin responded, appearing to have an individual in mind.

"Don’t think said person knows what day it is. No vision & play safe platitudes. Birds of a feather. #MEA," posted Khairy.

It is however unclear if the two politicians from opposite sides of the political divide are talking about the same person.
