Agong performs Friday prayers at Sultan Ismail Petra mosque

KOTA BHARU: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V performed the Friday prayers at the Sultan Ismail Petra mosque, Kubang Kerian, here today.

Clad in cream-coloured jubah, he arrived at the mosque at about 1.30pm, accompanied by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob, State secretary Datuk Nazran Muhammad and Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad.

About 5,000 people attended the congregational weekly prayer session led by imam Abdul Baari Abdullah.

Abdul Baari delivered the Friday sermon, where he cautioned against taking action without checking the facts, which could be harmful to the committing party.

"Do not believe in something blindly and then spread it to others without first verifying it, as such act could bring humiliation to the party itself.

"Do not partake in the act of spreading lies because it is not good for anybody, when the truth is yet to be known," he said.

After the Friday prayers, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the congregation also performed the solat hajat (a special prayer to seek help) so that he will be blessed with long life and good health after resuming his duties.

Sultan Muhammad V later spent some time shaking hands with the congregation before leaving home.
