PEKAN: Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah was today proclaimed Tengku Mahkota of Pahang and Regent of Raja Pahang.
The ceremony was held at Balairung Seri, Istana Abu Bakar here before the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the new Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
The letter on the proclamation of Tengku Hasanal’s appointment as the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang was read out by Tengku Muda of Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.
“I, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah, the Sultan and the Ruler of Pahang Darul Makmur and all its territories, by the power granted to me under Clause 1 of the Pahang state constitution and after discussions by the Pahang Royal Council which met on Jan 22, 2019 corresponding 16 Jamadilawal 1440 Hijrah, proclaim my son, His Highness Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as His Royal Highness Tengku Mahkota Pahang effective Jan 22, 2019 corresponidng to 16 Jamadilawal 1440 Hijrah," declared Tengku Abdul Rahman.
Tengku Hassanal then pronounced the loyal pledge and signed the Pledge of Loyalty, witnessed by the Tengku Muda of Pahang and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
"Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, Daulat Tuanku, I, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who has been awarded the title of His Royal Highness Tengku Mahkota Pahang, a rank and title and the heir to the Ruler of Pahang Darul Makmur, acknowledge that I will be loyal and obedient and faithful to you by putting down my signature and swear by the utterance Wahiillah Watallah, and if I intend to be wretched or rebellious, God will come upon me," said his Royal Highness.
The signing of the Surat Ikrar Taat Setia (Pledge of loyalty) was witnessed by the Tengku Muda of Pahang and the Pahang Menteri Besar.
His Royal Highness then completed the Istiadat Menjunjung Duli (paying homage to the Ruler).
Thereafter, the Tengku Muda of Pahang then read out the proclamation of Tengku Hassanal as the Pahang Regent effective Jan 31.
Sultan Abdullah then conferred the Darjah Kerabat Indera Mahkota Pahang Yang Amat Dohormati (DK) award to his eldest son.
Tengku Hassanal was made the Regent as his father will be sworn in as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Thursday.
Tengku Hassanal, who was born on Sept 17, 1995 at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, later received the instrument of proclamation making hims the Regent.
The ceremony ended with prayers by Pahang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Osman.
Today's proclamation ceremony created history in the modern Pahang Sultanate when Tengku Hassanal was simultaneously proclaimed to the two key positions of the Pahang royalty. -- BERNAMA
