Jan 31 public holiday for Pahang [NSTTV]

KUANTAN: The state government has declared Thursday (Jan 31) a special holiday for Pahang in conjunction with the proclamation of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan of Pahang Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the special holiday was announced since Jan 31 was a significant and historical date for the people of Pahang.

He urged the people especially civil servants to be present at the 10th mile Royal Malaysian Air Force base about 7am tomorrow to send off the King and his consort who would board a special flight to Kuala Lumpur.

On Jan 24, Pahang ruler Al-Sultan Abdullah was chosen as the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad in a statement said Al-Sultan Abdullah’s five year tenure as Agong would start on Jan 31.

The new Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di­Pertuan Agong would take their oath of office and sign the instrument of office tomorrow.
