CNY open house held in moderate scale in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Chinese New Year celebrations here today despite being held moderately was nevertheless in cheerful spirit.

Among those to hold an open house was SBJ Binajaya Development Sdn Bhd. Some 1,000 guests attended the open house that was held at Jalan Sri Panji here.

According to SBJ Development Sdn Bhd director Alan Tan, guests were served with various Chinese traditional foods as well as Malay delicacies such as nasi dagang, satay and laksa.

"Our open house is held annually and it is attended not only by members of the Malay community but also various races such as Indians and Siamese.

"Apart from serving them with local delicacies , guests were also entertained with lion dance performances," he said at the function.

The company's Chief Executive Officer Tan Ling Chung was also seen entertaining guests and later handed over angpau to the children.

Meanwhile, a well known kopitiam at Jalan Sri Cemerlang here, Kopitiam Kita today served free food to its 10,000 customers in conjunction with the Lunar New Year.

Its manager Stanley Wong Seng Teong said this was the 9th year that free food was made available to te outlet patrons as well as visitors.
