RON95, RON97 up by 4 sen, diesel unchanged

PUTRAJAYA: RON95 and RON97 will cost four sen more from tomorrow (Feb 9) until Feb 15, while diesel remains unchanged.

The Finance Ministry, in a statement today, said the retail pump prices for RON95 and RON97 petrol will be RM1.97 per litre and RM2.27 per litre respectively.

The price for diesel remains the same at RM2.18 per litre.

"The price for petroleum (refined) at the world market has increased as compared to the week before, from US$60 per barrel to US$62 per barrel for RON95 and from US$72 per barrel to US$73 per barrel for diesel.

"The increase in the global price has caused the retail price for petrol and diesel to also increase.

"However, the retail price for RON95 is still below the the government's price stabilisation of RON95 which was at RM2.20," the ministry said.

"For diesel, the increase in market's price should have caused its price to go up by one sen, which is from RM2.18 to RM2.19 per litre, based on Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula.

"This is due to Pakatan Harapan government's pledge to stabilise the retail price for diesel at RM2.18 per litre, even if it surpasses the rate." the ministry added.
