KOTA BARU: Sultan Ismail Petra, father of former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, was admitted to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) here, on Tuesday.
According to sources, the 69-year-old Sultan is being treated in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a throat infection.
However, his condition has stabilised after receiving treatment from a team of doctors.
“Sultan Ismail Petra was sent to the hospital by his family five days ago. (As of today), his condition (has improved).
“Doctors have given their best treatment to Sultan Ismail Petra and are monitoring him closely,” the sources said.
They added that only close family members are being allowed to visit the Sultan.
His wife, Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid, and their children were reportedly by his side when he was admitted.
However, even the Sultan’s relatives have been advised to limit their visits to the hospital to allow Sultan Ismail Petra to rest and recover quickly.
