Tabung Haji remains under PM's Office

PUTRAJAYA: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) remains under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the department clarified today.

In a statement it said TH was slammed with numerous allegations that it was now transferred under the purview of the Finance Minister.

“This was after the Cabinet decided to transfer the board’s underperforming assets to the government’s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

“This move was among the measures taken to restore TH’s financial standing and to accelerate the recovery process after massive misappropriation which took place in TH.

“TH remains under the PMO and this doesn’t change despite the introduction of SPV which was agreed by the Cabinet,” the PMO said.

TH is also placed under the supervision of Bank Negara, headed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus.

Bank Negara oversees all bank and financial institutions, including Islamic financial institutions, the office said.

“Allegations that TH has been transferred to the Finance Ministry are not true and completely baseless,” said PMO.
