Firemen dissuade woman from jumping off Penang bridge

GEORGE TOWN: Firemen dissuaded a woman, in her 30s, from jumping off the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah bridge this afternoon.

A Bayan Baru Fire and Rescue Station spokesman said they had received a call at 3.23pm and rushed to the scene.

He said when they arrived at Km13.8 of the bridge, they found the woman at the edge of the bridge, and she was about to jump off.

“Firemen and the bridge’s auxiliary police managed to coax the victim,” he said.

“She then left the scene, accompanied by two auxiliary policemen.”

Photos of what are believed to be the woman’s motorcycle, helmet and shoes have made their way onto social media.
