Shhhh... former radio host to go silent in first few days of campaign

SEREMBAN: R.Malarvizhi or Malar Rajaram who is contesting the Rantau by-election as an independent candidate, will not campaign for the next few days.

This as a sign of protest against both the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

The 51-year-old former radio host and producer, who is contesting under the "tree" logo, said she was disappointed with the pact and the coalition for allegedly disallowing their previous election candidates from speaking.

"I have an election manifesto and I have a few things to offer to the people of Rantau.

"But I want to remain silent to protest against what Pakatan did in Semenyih and what BN did in Cameron Highlands.

"Their candidates there were not allowed to speak," she said.

Malarvizhi was speaking to reporters after the nomination process at SJK (C) Bandar Seri Sendayan, here, today.

She would also not release her election manifesto until after her protest ends.

"To the people of Rantau, I want to say sorry because I won't be campaigning for the next couple of days. I will release my manifesto in a few days' time."

Malar, from Kg Ganapathy in Port Dickson, said she can speak fluent Bahasa Melayu, English and Mandarin.

She said she spent 25 years in Toronto, Canada, where she hosted and produced a radio show called 'Kampungku Radio'.

The now housewife and fifth of eight siblings returned to Malaysia in 2016 to take care of her ailing mother, who has since died.
