Amanah needs to find best approach in ensuring its sustainability, says party leader

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) needs to find the best approach to advance the party in the face of diminishing electoral prospects due to the current cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

Muammar Qadaffi Mohd Nasir, the Terengganu representative of Amanah Youth, said this step is crucial to ensure the party's sustainability, especially in attracting the support of the youth.

"Amanah always makes sacrifices. I believe the benefits of cooperation outweigh the disadvantages.

"Our challenge now is how to strive to become the preferred party for the youth, an idealistic party that truly represents their voices.

"So, we need to find ways to attract youth support in the current challenging situation with the shrinking 'cake' or Amanah seats," he said during the debate session at the Amanah National Youth Convention 2023 held at an event centre in Bangsar on Saturday.

A total of 15 representatives, including students, participated in the debate on the Youth Chief's speech.

To prevent the collapse of the unity government formed between PH and BN, Amanah needs to adopt an open-minded approach, even though the chances of contesting in elections are shrinking, Muammar Qadaffi said.

At the same time, he reminded the party leadership not to fear adopting new ideas to strengthen both the party and the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"The strength of cooperation between PH and BN becomes the key to the government's stability," he added.
