Three, including child, killed in Langkawi house fire [NSTTV]

LANGKAWI: Three people, including a child, were killed in a blaze at a house in Pangkalan Nelayan Sungai Tepa, Bukit Malut here, at 7am today.

The charred remains of a man were found in the living room of the house; while the bodies of a woman and a child were discovered in the bathroom.

The identities of the victims have not been established.

Langkawi’s Fire and Rescue Authority said a member of the public alerted them to the blaze at 7.03am.

“A team of personnel and firefighters from the Jalan Ayer Hangat and Persiara Putra stations were deployed to the site.

“Upon reaching the scene, the team found that the house was already 70 per cent razed,” said Fire Authority chief for the Langkawi zone, Fadzlullah Mohd Noor.

He added that an investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire and losses incurred.
