RANAU: Swift action by Mountain Guide Search and Rescue (Mosar) personnel saved the life of a Laban Rata guesthouse worker, who was suffering from breathing difficulties at Panalaban base camp, Mount Kinabalu, here, yesterday.
It was learnt that the staff identified as Agus Usnadi was experiencing breathing problems at 7am before he became unconscious while working at the guesthouse.
District Fire and Rescue acting chief Devi Rashedee Engsoi told the New Straits Times today that the department had received a distress call at 7.20am and deployed six Mosar personnel to the scene.
He said the 37-year-old Agus was already unconscious when the team arrived.
“Mosar personnel immediately assisted him by positioning him properly before putting respiratory equipment on him.
“The victim regained consciousness but was in a weak condition.
“He was then carried using a stretcher to Timpohon Gate for immediate treatment.”
Devi added that the victim arrived at Timpohon Gate, one of the starting points for the climb up Mount Kinabalu, at 11.36am and was rushed to the district hospital.
