PORT DICKSON: A fisherman was struck and killed by lightning as he was manoeuvring his boat towards the Jimah Power Plant jetty at Bukit Pelanduk here, today.
R. Kannan, 39, was struck in the chest by a bolt of lightning at about 1pm and died at the scene.
A member of the public who witnessed the incident contacted the Bukit Pelanduk police station.
“The victim was pronounced dead after being rushed to the Kampung Sawah Health Clinic.
“An initial examination of the victim’s body revealed burns to his chest,” Port Dickson deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor said in a statement.
He added that the body was sent to the Port Dickson Hospital for a post mortem and that the case has been classified as “sudden death”.
