IGP: 'Sabah Sarawak Merdeka' Facebook account could belong to foreigners

KUANTAN: Police have not discounted the possibility that the ‘Sabah-Sarawak Merdeka’ Facebook account is owned by foreigners who want to cause provocations in the country, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

Mohamad Fuzi said police were currently working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to track down the suspects.

“The (FB) account which was reported to have insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in its postings was found to have been deactivated several days and is now active again, but we have not been able to trace the account owner.

“Police will not keep quiet and are still waiting for results from MCMC, and as of Friday, 267 police reports on this case have been received throughout the country,” he said.

Mohamad Fuzi was speaking to reporters at the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara award-presentation ceremony at the General Operations Force Bukit Galing Camp here.

Also present was Director of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani and Bukit Aman Director of Management Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar.

A total of 222 police officers and personnel who served from the Emergency period until 1990 received the awards. – BERNAMA
