IGP: Filing reports is public's constitutional right

KLANG: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said he is open to officers filing reports against him for any wrongdoing on his part, following a recent increase in misconduct cases involving police officers.

He said it is the public's constitutional right to do so, and encouraged them to report any violations by police officers as well.

"If there is a violation of the law, please report it. We do not condone any misconduct by officers or myself," he said after a walkabout around Pasar Pandamaran, Klang, today.

Razarudin was accompanied by his deputy, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, and Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

He said there will be no cover-up in investigations involving police officers.

"If we receive any information or reports, an immediate investigation will be conducted and brought to court.

"The public has the right to file reports, and should not be discouraged from doing so."

Razarudin said this approach is in line with the police's slogan, which is "Police and people are inseparable".
