Monitor lizard causes commotion in classroom

MIRI: A surprise visit by a two-feet long monitor lizard caused a commotion at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sayed Osman, here, yesterday.

The reptile had crawled into one of the Year Three classrooms at about 3pm, sending 40 pupils running out of the room in panic.

District Malaysian Civil Defence Department team, led by Lance Corporal Sukri Tusin, was despatched to the scene after the office received a call at 3.15pm.

“Our men arrived 15 minutes later and found the monitor lizard still in the classroom.

"It took the team about 15 minutes to catch the reptile, after chasing it,” he said.

Sukri added that monitor lizard was later released back into its natural habitat.
