Johor police to increase patrols at places of worship

JOHOR BARU: All district police headquarters in Johor have been instructed to increase patrols at places of worship.

State deputy police chief Datuk Kamarudin Md Din said this was a preventive measure to avoid any untoward incidents, following the recent bombings at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.

“However, we have not received any information or reports on possible terrorist attacks here,” he said.

Kamarudin said the police would continue to monitor the entry points into the country, especially at the Causeway and the Second Link, to prevent any terror elements from coming in.

“We are always vigilant as we want to ensure these element do not gain a foothold here,” he added.

Kamarudin was speaking to the media after launching a blood donation campaign in conjunction with the 212th Police Day at Plaza Pelangi here.

On the campaign, Kamarudin said the organisers expected to exceed the original target of 200 donors.

“170 donors had already contributed by noon. We hope this would help to replenish blood supply,” he added.
