MACC to charge Bung Moktar, wife Zizie with graft

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will charge former Felcra Berhad non-executive chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and his wife, former actress Datin Seri Zizie Izette A. Samad, with graft at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court here on Friday (May 3).

In a statement today, the MACC said the Kinabatangan MP and his wife will be charged under Section 17(a) and Section 28 (1) (c) of the MACC Act 2009.

Bung Moktar, 59, was detained in Sabah at 10.50am today, while Zizie, 41, was detained in Putrajaya at 11.15am.

They were released a few hours later after having their statements taken.

Section 17(a) stipulates that any individual who commits an offence by giving or accepting gratification by agent to show favour or disfavour to any person in relation to his principal's affairs or businesses is liable to a maximum 20 years' jail sentence and a fine of not less than five times the bribe amount, or RM10,000, whichever is higher, if convicted.
