Perak MB heads list of scouts awards

IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu headed the list of 70 recipients of the Federation of Scouts Association of Malaysia Perak honours and awards.

The ceremony was held at the Banquet Hall, Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today.

Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah, who graced the event, presented the Bintang Semangat Padi Kelas Kedua (BSPH) Perak, the second highest scouting award from the Federation Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) to Ahmad.

The Bintang Semangat Padi is bestowed upon outstanding figures and state and national leaders.

The Perak ruler also awarded the Bintang Semangat Rimba Kelas Kedua Perak to State Secretary Zainal Azman Abu Seman, who is also the deputy Yang Dipertua PPM Perak; National Scouts council member Datuk Ivan Hoe Wat Sing and Kedah Scouts Council Chairman Datuk Zaini Japar.

Among six other recipients who received Bintang Seri Maharajalela (Emas) were National Scouts Chief Commissioner Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin, President of the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association Matusin Orang Kaya Sura Tuba and Acting Deputy Scouts Commissioner of Satun District, Thailand, Kochem Meenhem.

At the event, Sultan Nazrin also awarded Pingat Perkhidmatan Gemilang (PPG) to the State Deputy Education Director Mohd Rosli Ahmad, Perak Assistant Chief Scout Commissioner Khairul Abu Kassim, while the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang was presented to Perak Boy Scouts Assistant Commissioner Francis Alberto and Datin Paduka Dr V.N. Santha Kuman.

A total of 42 people were presented with scouting awards and medals, namely the pingat Dato’ Sagor-Emas, Dato’s Sagor, Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia, Pingat Perkhidmatan Baik, and Pingat Perkhidmatan Lama.

At the same event, seven upper secondary students from the state also received Pingat Kecemerlangan Pendidikan UPSR 2017 as an appreciation for being outstanding in scouting activities as well as academic performance.

Sultan Nazrin presented the 2017/2018 King Scout Certificate to 287 recipients who completed their scouts badge scheme at the scouts activities in their respective schools.

Earlier, Chief Scout Commissioner of Perak Ahmad Azam Shah Abd Majid, in his speech, said the scouts movement was built on a foundation as a leading organisation with capability and ability to produce responsible citizens.

“There is no need to doubt on scouting children’s training and development by scout leaders. Many King Scout who attended this event today have successfully pioneered a future empire,” he said. - Bernama
