PUTRAJAYA: The pump price of RON97 petrol per litre will be two sen cheaper; while RON95 and diesel prices will remain unchanged from tomorrow (May 18) until May 24.
Motorists can fill their tanks with RON97 for only RM2.68 per litre beginning midnight.
Meanwhile, the retail prices of RON95 petrol and diesel will continue to be capped at RM2.08 and RM2.18 per litre, the Finance Ministry said.
It added that the government expects to fork out RM99.19 million in fuel subsidy for the two petroleum products.
"If one does away with the subsidies, the pump prices for RON95 would be RM2.38 per litre and diesel, RM2.45 per litre.
“No subsidy is given for RON97," the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
It added that the estimated subsidy value for RON95 totals RM72.50 million and RM26.69 million for diesel.
The capped prices for RON95 and diesel are in line with the government's aim of stabilising the retail prices of petroleum products and reducing the cost of living.
The prices of fuel are calculated weekly, based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
Reintroduced on Jan 5, the mechanism sees fuel prices announced every Friday and effective for one week.
