Two hurt, one trapped after Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal building collapses [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Two construction workers were injured while another is still trapped when part of the Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal building, which is still under construction along Jalan Taman Melati here collapsed earlier this morning.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operation centre received the report on the incident at 1.13am and dispatched a team from the Wangsa Maju and Gombak south stations to the location for a rescue operation.

The operation was also joined by Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team (STORM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the police.

Operation commander Assistant Commissioner M. Murugiah said there were three victims in the incident and two of them had been rescued and sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

“However, there’s still one more victim trapped under the rubble and his condition is not yet known.

“We also deployed a Canine Unit (K9) to detect if there are other victims trapped under the rubble,” he said in a statement today.

He added that clearing works and search and rescue operation are still ongoing at the 232sqm construction site.
