Home Ministry scores 63pct in fulfilling PH pledges [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: Home Ministry has scored 63.15 per cent in fulfilling Pakatan Harapan manifesto pledges in the first year of being the government.

Its minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said as of April 30, they managed the score for 19 initiatives which comes under the ministry, out of the 464 initiatives outlined in its 14th General Election manifesto.

"I am satisfied with the performance although there is room for improvement and focus to be given," he said during the ministry's Iftar programme here today.

This achievement, he said, showed commitment of the ministry in fulfilling the promises pledged in the manifesto.

"It strived in making sure the security, peace and public order is protected and maintained," he said.

Muhyiddin also said continuous efforts should be taken especially in reducing crime rates.

This includes issues revolving illegal immigrants, reducing the number of relapses and recidivists, maritime and border control as well as study and reformation on laws pertaining to security," he added.

As promised in the manifesto, he said the Home Ministry has approved 2,516 citizenships for those above the age of 60 who meet the requirements outlined in the Federal Constitution, he said.

Muhyiddin also said the ministry scored 92.11 per cent in the Minister’s Performance Indicator (MP') for the month of March.

"In the first three months of this year, the crime index for every 100,000 people, stood at 61.26 per cent compared 66.52 per cent previously.

"Apart from that, a total of 2,924 special operations were carried out against illegal immigrants and employers hiring illegal immigrants during the same period," he said.

In efforts to reduce the number of recidivists, Muhyiddin said a total of 285 people had undergone corporate smart partnership to prepare training and job placement for those who had completed their parole.

He was also confident that with the ministry's commitment and sincerity, this momentum would be continued to achieve all the targets set for 27 activities under the Minister’s Performance Indicator for this year.
