New MACC chief Latheefa clocks in for work

PUTRAJAYA: Newly-appointed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Beebi Koya has officially clocked in for work at 3.32pm today (June 4).

Earlier, Latheefa received her appointment letter from Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Bakar at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) here.

According to the statement issued by PMO, Latheefa was appointed on a two-year contract which took effect on June 1.

With this appointment, she is the first female MACC chief.

Latheefa, the executive director of Lawyers for Liberty, replaced Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull who requested to end his service before his contract due.

Shukri's two-year contract was supposed to end on May 17, 2020.
