Water supply in Klang Valley fully restored

KUALA LUMPUR: The water supply to several areas in the Klang Valley, which was disrupted due to mechanical filtration system repair at Sungai Langat water treatment facility, has been fully restored.

Air Selangor Sdn Bhd's Customer Relationship and Communication chief Abdul Raof Ahmad in a statement said water supply to the affected areas in Hulu Langat, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling were restored in stages since 12pm today.

He said the trip, caused by accumulation of a large amount of rubbish travelled downstream during yesterday's heavy rain, had led to the intake and system to get clogged and subsequently tripped.

“Workers have worked around the clock since last night, immediately after learning about the trip until just now to rectify and restore water supply to the affected areas,” he said.

Abdul Raof said as of 6pm, all three areas had their water supplies restored, starting with Petaling at 12pm.

When probed further on how the large amount of rubbish got on the path of the water intake in Hulu Langat, he said they had to wait for the full report.

“Our priority is to resolve the issue and to minimise the impact of supply interruption to affected customers as soon as possible,” he said.

He also apologised for all the inconveniences the temporary water disruption had caused the customers at the affected areas.
