Haziqgate: Haziq lodges police report, claims threatened to rescind 'confession'

KUALA LUMPUR: Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, the man who claimed he was one of the men in a sex video allegedly implicating a cabinet minister, has lodged a police report claiming he was threatened and being forced to rescind his “confession”.

Haziq shared a copy of the police report on his Facebook account, claiming the political secretary to a minister was trying to force him into doing so.

He claimed he was threatened by the political secretary during a meeting at a restaurant in Putrajaya.

He also claimed several other individuals had threatened him after he refused to rescind his statement.

“The reason I am lodging this report is to deny all the slander made by netizens, cybertroopers, YB Hilman Idham (political secretary to Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, the minister Haziq had claimed was with him in the video) and others,” he said in his police report lodged at the Kelana Jaya police station in Petaling Jaya.

(Azmin has since denied allegations that he had a tryst with Haziq as claimed by those spreading the video allegedly taken in what is purportedly a room at a hotel in Sandakan in May.)

In the report, Haziq claimed he had been afraid when the minister sent his political secretary to meet with him.

“He (Hilman) forced me to deny that I was the one in the video. I asked for some time to seek advice from my parents and this made him angry. After I turned him down, he threatened me and said this ‘would all end within 48 hours’ with or without my help,” he wrote in his report.

Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat confirmed the report had been lodged.

Meanwhile, Hilman has denied threatening Haziq during their meeting.

He added that he had not been instructed by anyone, including Azmin, to meet with Haziq but had done so on his own accord.

“I have known him (Haziq) since he was a university student (and that is why I went to see him). His accusations against me are untrue.

“We talked about the video and Haziq said he was disappointed that such disgusting politics were at play. He stressed that the videos were false and that he was not the one in the video. But he did say he wanted to seek advice from his family,” said Hilman.

Hilman said he agreed that this was the best course of action for Haziq, telling him that family was an important factor in facing lies and slander.
