Two toddlers trapped in car; firemen to the rescue!

SEREMBAN: It was probably the longest 30 minutes for a 27-year-old mother whose toddlers aged one and two were trapped in her car at a nursery in Sendayan here this evening.

Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Operations head Mohd Syazwan Saidy said the department received an emergency call on the incident at 6.51pm before six firemen were dispatched to the scene.

He said upon arrival, the firemen found a two-year-old boy and a 12-month-old girl trapped in the car with its engine was still running.

“Based on the information received, the 27-year-old woman had placed her two children in the vehicle after fetching them from the nursery.

“However, the car automatically locked as soon as she closed one of the doors. Her attempts to open the door, even with the help from the teachers at the nursery, however, proved futile,” he said.

Syazwan said the firemen had to use special equipment to open the door on the driver's side before they were able to rescue the toddlers.

“We took about five minutes to save the kids and they were not hurt," he said.
