Flash Flood: Fire Dept rescues two women trapped in car

IPOH: Two women in their 30s faced a harrowing experience when they were trapped in their car after flash floods occurred in front of a petrol station in Simpang Pulai near here this evening (January 15).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said in a statement that a fire and rescue team rushed to the location of the incident after they received a distress call at around 7.46pm.

"As soon as the team arrived at 8.01pm, they found a car trapped by floodwaters with two women in the car at the vicinity of the Sam Poh Tong temple, around 300 metres (m) from the petrol station," he said, adding that the victims said they attempted to brave the floodwaters to reach the temple.

He said the firefighters pushed the car out of the floodwaters and that both victims were in good condition and unhurt. — BERNAMA
