'Only those not well-versed in English will find VM2020 tagline wrong'

KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism and Culture minister Datuk Mohammadin Ketapi says the tagline for the Visit Malaysia Year 2020 (VM2020) campaign will not be changed despite the criticism.

The tagline, as seen on the new logo for the campaign launched yesterday is "Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020".

Mohammadin said the usage of the English language in the logo was correct and said only those who were not well-versed with the language would deem the phrasing as wrong.

He was speaking at a press conference today for the Leonardo Opera Omnia exhibition at the National Art Gallery, here.

Meanwhile on allegations that the logo was plagiarised, Mohammadin said the logo selected was done by a first class graduate in graphic design.

"A first class graduate would not plagiarise because he has no intention of humiliating himself.

"Only those who can't draw will plagiarise," he said.

A fake logo of the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign has been circulating on social media in which the hornbill part of the design was said to have been plagiarised from "Hornbill Studios".
