KUANTAN: Pahang Wanita Pas and Umno today lodged 17 police reports against a Facebook account owner using the alias “Wendy Loong” for allegedly insulting Islam on the social networking site.
Pahang Pas deputy commissioner Andansura Rabu said they urged the police to conduct an investigation, and subsequently take firm action against the Facebook account owner.
“The Muslim community is hurt by the insensitive Facebook post.
“One should not mock or make fun of other religions.
“We live in a multicultural and multireligious country.
“it’s always best to respect each other.
“We hope the authorities will take stern action which will serve as a lesson to others, so that it will not recur,” he told reporters here today.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Mazlan Mansor said police had started a probe and were in the midst of gathering evidence.
He said once completed, the investigation papers would be forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action.
