Bangi Bersatu lodges police report over alleged insult to Sultan's reminder by MIC leader

KUALA LUMPUR: Bangi Bersatu has lodged a police report against a MIC division head for allegedly insulting the Sultan of Selangor's reminder for non-Muslims to respect and refrain from interfering in matters related to Islamic affairs in the country.

Its division chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said the action from the individual could create a state of disharmony and cause disruption to public order.

"I have requested the Bangi Bersatu united wing to file the report in Bangi (police station) yesterday (Jan 8) morning.

"We view the content of the video as insulting the decree of the Selangor Sultan, who is also the National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs chairman (MKI).

"The video reminds Malaysians, especially those who are not Muslims, to respect and not interfere in matters related to Islamic affairs in Malaysia," he said in a statement.

Wan Saiful also urged the authorities to conduct a firm investigation and take immediate action over the matter, claiming that there seemed to be a 'bias' in the enforcement process.

"We urged that authorities must strictly investigate and take immediate action because now there seems to be an atmosphere of bias in the enforcement process.

"The individual in question must also seek forgiveness from the Sultan of Selangor and all the people of Selangor for his misbehaviour."

Previously, MIC division head in a three-minute video had urged Muslims to not interfere in non-Muslim affairs, including activities related to the sale of lottery numbers, alcoholic beverages, and the construction of temples.
