PUTRAJAYA: The new pump price of RON97 petrol will be lower by 2 sen from midnight tonight until Aug 9.
In a statement issued today, the Finance Ministry said that RON97 will be priced at RM2.54 per litre. It was sold for RM2.56 per litre the previous week.
Meanwhile, the retail price of RON95 will remain at RM2.08 per litre. The cost of diesel will also stay unchanged at RM2.18 per litre for the same period, it added.
"Without subsidy, the retail price of RON95, calculated under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), would be RM2.24 per litre; (while) diesel would be RM2.33 per litre," said the ministry.
It added that the government had decided to cap the retail cost of RON95 at RM2.08 and diesel at RM2.18 to stabilise the prices of petroleum products and reduce the people's cost of living.
